How it Works: Fertility Preservation

• Set Up a Consultation to Learn About Your Options

  At a RSNY new patient consultation and fertility health screening, your physician will meet with you to discuss your future family building goals and answer any questions you may have about the process. We’ll also evaluate your reproductive health by performing bloodwork and an ultrasound.

• Get Ready for Your Cycle

  If you decide you’re ready to freeze your eggs after your consult, you’ll work with your physician to build a custom care plan, tailored to meet your specific family building goals. You’ll also meet with our financial representatives to walk through your insurance coverage and/or financing options. Your care team will then make sure all required pre-screening lab work (hormonal lab testing, preconception screening, and ultrasound for ovarian and uterine evaluation, etc) is completed before you attend a virtual orientation class to review the stimulation process, including your medication protocol and the egg retrieval procedure.

• Start Your Cycle

  Once you begin your cycle, we will use fertility medications to stimulate the production of eggs in your ovaries. This takes between 10-14 days, during which you’ll visit our office for ultrasounds and lab work to monitor egg follicle growth. When your doctor decides you are ready, you will receive a final medication used to mature the eggs and prepare them for retrieval. 34-36 hours after your final injection, you will undergo a brief surgical procedure done under anesthesia to retrieve your eggs. Once your eggs are retrieved, mature eggs will be frozen and stored for your future use in our laboratory.

• Let Us Know When You’re Ready

  If/when you decide to start or expand your family using your previously frozen eggs, your eggs will be thawed and combined with sperm in our laboratory to create embryos. Whenever you’re ready to take the next step in your fertility journey, we’re here to help. Your future, your timeline.
